Carol Douglas

Carol Douglas lives and works in York. Her abstract compositions of household objects draw on a wide range of themes and ideas, such as the 'kitchen sink' movement, abstract-expressionists like Philip Guston, as well as her own reflections on domestic-life.

"I experiment with mono-printing on fabric, painting on hessian, blind drawing and painting and collage as well as traditional painting styles. I also like to play with the concept of scale, transferring images between different size canvasses."

I hope that people who see my work find it both visually exciting and somewhat amusing. The domestic has always been my focus and speaks of my personality and history." - Carol Douglas, 2020
