Mafalda Figueiredo

Mafalda Figueiredo (b. 1991, Lisbon) is a figurative painter. In 2013, she graduated from Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (The Faculty of Fine Arts at The University of Lisbon).

Figueiredo's self-portraits present themes of personal identity and its many facets. They contemplate the duplexity of how we are seen and how we ultimately see ourselves, and manifest these perceptions as characters and symbols to form dreamlike narratives that elude and mystify.

"My intention is to reflect on my personal experiences without exposing them: through figurative painting I create dreamlike worlds where the narrative is communicated through symbolism and metaphors rooted in intuition and free association."
